“The cattle business wasn't an immediate piece of Dan's life, but agriculture and a love for the land ran deep in his DNA, as Grandfathers from each side of the family had farms in South Dakota and Virginia...”

Purpose. Production. Perfection.

In 1985, Dan and his family left Colorado and moved to the original family farm in Virginia. On that farm his Dad gave him the opportunity to plant corn on a small piece of ground. He saved every dime of the corn sales to get himself in the cow business.

During the tail end of the farm crisis, Dan’s family eventually sold that Virginia farm and relocated to central Wyoming. Once in Wyoming, Dan was given the opportunity to get into the cattle business and learn from some great folks in the industry.

Dan's family ended up on a small operation in western Nebraska. The timing was perfect and by the time he was a sophomore in high school, he had put together an angus and Maine Anjou influenced foundation herd. When he sold his first club calf to a customer in Indiana that year, he was pretty sure the cow business was easy. Let’s all laugh together. That herd continued growing until 2004 when he and Dawn were married. He and Dawn were able to disperse the entire herd and make the down payment on their first place in Colorado.

In 2014, while managing the family hay farm in Northeast Colorado, they began building the cow herd by hand selecting genetics from across the country: Cattle that were good at the ground, easy fleshing, good gaining, stout made and for sure easy on the eyes. The Angus genetic selections allowed them to produce beef that excelled in traits like marbling and motherhood, and the Maine Anjou genetics brought durability and mass.

Producing quality beef began opening doors to begin a farm to table beef business. The cattle are born, raised and finished on the farm – never leaving our watchful and caring eye until it is time to be processed, still to this day.

The boys were eager to get in the show ring, beginning locally and eventually traveling the country. As they began finding some success in the show ring it provided an opportunity to market cattle privately to other families.

The boys loved farm life, from irrigating, to operating equipment but specifically for Cody, his first love is with the cattle.

Wanting to give all the boys an opportunity to be part of the operation moving forward, they started searching for a region that would offer the multi faceted opportunities the family needed. Oklahoma was that prime region.

Oklahoma has given show cattle markets that formerly were harder to access. The cow herd numbers have increased dramatically to keep up with the demand for beef. The sky is the limit for each of the boys to carve out their own niche in the family business of beef.

We are beyond grateful for the Oklahoma welcome we have received and have been so blessed by the people we have met and the friends we have made in this short time.

Excited about the direction that God has led our family and the opportunities that these cattle bring to our family. I am proud of the day and night family effort that is put in to provide and serve others through quality cattle.
